Super Black Foods For Super Black Health

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking at the Black History Studies expo called “New Year New You” on the topic of

“Super Black Foods = Super Black Health – Creating future wellness from ancient wisdom”

During the talk, I spoke on:

•Our Black Health History
•Our Confused Current Health
•Our Health Myths & Stats
•How To Secure Future Wellness
•Our Black Power Food List
•How To Overcome Our Biggest Challenge
•And What To Do Next?

At the end of the talk I made 2 of the recipes from my book Leah Raw Food Feast (which you can buy here) – Mango Pie & Plantain and Okra Stew.  There were a few looks of surprise at the notion of eating okra and plantain raw, but it got a big thumbs up as the mango pie was a winner as usual.

Here are a few pictures from my talk and you can find picture from the day on Charmaine from Black History Studies Facebook page here.

Thanks again to Charmaine & Mark Simpson from Black History Studies for hosting this event and so many others and thanks to everyone who joined the list, bought a book or just came over to our table to say Hi.

Take care and stay healthy

Leah

    Hi Leah.
Wanted to say thank you for an enlightening session. Very interesting, entertaining, and you gave me some food ideas!! I have already tried the Mango pie (with pineapple), not as good as yours… yet!
Bless up your daughters too, wonderful personality and great business people of the future. Blessings to you, family and may the inspiring work continue.

    Greetings Leah,

Thank you for your presentation at the BHS event in December. I was working the BHS event, in the kitchen area, so did not get to see much of your session, but did get to try your plantain & Okra sample, which tasted great! I also bought your “Raw Food” book and plan on trying the 9 day raw diet! I looked in your book for the same plantain & Okra sample you gave us, but can only see the stew in there. Did not think that was what I tried at BHS..? And is it ok to eat plantain raw? Or was it cooked first, cooled and then added?

I am a Piscetarian myself, and do eat vegetarian/vegan meals also.
I will be trying more of your recipes, but I am set on this Okra one presently! So anxious to get on with it, cause it was so tasty!

Look forward to your answer soon!
    Shak
