Free Bleeding – What Is It & Is It For You?

in 2015, marathon runner Kiran Ghandi created headlines for running a marathon while on her period. But what’s the big deal about that, women run marathons on their period all the time I hear you say, but Kiran did it without wearing any feminine hygiene products, wearing pink leggings so her periods blood was clearly seen leaking onto her leggings, also known as free bleeding. Now do you see why she made the headlines?

Kiran decided to do this to raise awareness about the thousands of women who simply can’t afford or have no access to pads, tampons etc.  But other women, for a variety of reasons, have decided the no longer want to wear feminine hygiene products when they’re on their period, therefore free bleeding by choice not circumstance.

In this video, which is a recording of a live video I recorded on my Facebook and Instagram pages, I talk more about what it is, some of the reasons women choose to do it, my thoughts on free bleeding, my questions around it and read the comments from the live viewers

I tried free bleeding some years ago, I stopped wearing the pad because I had an allergic reaction to it, so decided to stay in and bleed freely. I felt free but messy!
